March in the year of 2020 will not be something we soon forget. At the time of writing, the Coronavirus pandemic is still sweeping across America and significantly impacting our stores and our team members. To date, no one employed by our company has had a positive COVID-19 diagnosis and we remain in prayer that it stays that way.
Now, here’s a secret about hard stuff that’s worth holding onto. In fact, you can put it in your comforting-thoughts-to-lean-on file, next to, “this too shall pass” and “you never know what you’re capable of until you’re looking back on it.”
Tough times create exceptional moments when you have the right people on your team.
Meet Gary, assistant manager at Market Street (19th and Quaker, Lubbock). Smack in the middle of viruspalooza, he met Bob Strong. Mr. Strong is an 80-year old guest of Market Street who happened to be in the store when a thunderstorm flooded the part of a parking lot where his vehicle was parked.
If ever there was a time where it might be understandable to fall short of the exceptional people-first experience The United Family is famous for, this was it. Not Gary, no, he saw a way to serve and he did whatever necessary to help.
Our guests are worried, team members are exhausted, and the unknowns are heavy on all of our hearts. Still, like Gary, countless #UnitedFamilyActsOfKindness are happening all over.
Comments and messages continue to flood in with expressions of sincere gratitude, stories of incredible acts of kindness, and proof of the amazing positive impact that makes The United Family special. In addition to those included below, there are hundreds more across social media.
Author’s note: as I write this, I am reminded how lucky we are to be in a position to serve others well in a time like this. I would bet that most, if not all, of the 18,000 team members in the family have had a moment this week where they were able to serve someone well. We are as grateful for our guests and communities that trust us to do our best to take care of them. That is an honor we don’t take lightly.

Thank you for limiting certain supplies and foods. It's amazing what you're doing to help everyone get groceries not just the hoarders. Keep up the good work. Your workers are super too, they were very kind and apologetic during our interaction. I told them not to apologize and I understand the rules change in situations like these. They all look tired and need a break.
Market Street Plano grocery and pharmacy staff are the absolute best! From Kay to Donna to Jean and Callie and David and Paul and Hannah, you simply couldn’t ask for more. These teams are working themselves silly so we have what we need. Thank you to every single one of you. Sincerely and with great thanks and respect, Sherry
I visited my Amigos today in Amarillo and I was so proud that it was my store! I found all I needed and we were all kind and supportive. I was happy to see my favorite cashier and chat during such an uncertain time. Awesome job Amigos United!
We love Market Street Coppell - and our deliveries from Bill! Absolutely the best. He delivered on Friday in the midst of the chaos.
Thank you all for doing this. I brought my mother early this morning and she was able to get what she needed!! You all are awesome - thanks to the management and all the employees working so hard!!
I’d be lost without the Coppell Market Street! There are too many awesome members to name, but four that stand out consistently (in no particular order) are George Collier Laura Holloway Seth Ratliff and Bill! Always a friendly smile, always efficient and willing to help- I know how hard everyone at this store has been working, especially as of lately and my hope is for them to stay healthy and receive some good foot massages and eventually some extra time off.... God Bless them all and thank you!
I want to compliment two of your employees at your store 939 in Albuquerque NM on March 13. Even with a large number of customers Bill W. was very kind, helpful and cheerful. A carry out woman assistant whose name I did not get helped me with my cart in the wind and rain (I am 87) and did not give up on me when I had difficulty locating my car in the very crowded parking lot. 😊
So appreciative of United's effort through these unprecedented times. I have full confidence that you will continue to serve our community well. I Love United.
Dalhart United has been outstanding !! We only have 1 grocery store in this town and to see how they are keeping up is amazing. Friday as I was walking out I noticed the store manager Andy Hulett exhausted but not letting anyone leave without being helped. Great leader = A Great Team. Thank you Dalhart United.
